As the title asks, can the X200 ultrabase only use the 4 Lenovo branded optical drives?

I think the answer is yes but I don't understand why since it appears that the ultrabase accepts a standard optical drive. The Lenovo branded optical drives are soooo expensive compared to non-branded options. For example, the DVDRW drive is $200:

A DVDRW drive *with* an enclosure can be had on eBay for $50 shipped :( Please tell me that I don't have to use the severely overpriced Lenovo options!

Most other notebook drives won't fit.

Are there *any* notebook size optical drives that do fit?

I'm afraid you're hosed on this one. Look on eBay or ThinkPads.com Marketplace forum for cheaper alternatives.
