I recently ordered a T420s and was wondering which would be a good HDD for the ultrabay. I have the ultrabay adapter from my T410s. I ordered T420s with the 250GB HDD on Lenovo site.

Here are my storage options -

    a. mSATA (Intel 320 80GB) + 250GB (or new 7mm HHD) in main HDD bay
    OR
    b. Intel 80GB Gen2 SSD (7mm) in main HDD bay, new 5400/7200rpm in ultrabay.

Which option would you recommend? Is there a third option? Looking to spend 250$ at most.

    Thank you.

Is the adapter even useable between the two models? For a budget system, I'd go with the mSATA SSD drive, which is actually the 310. The 320 isn't out and is the replacement of the G2s. It is 7mm in height with a spacer to make it 9.5mm.

The first option would be the cheapest/easiest and there pretty much no difference in performance if you are going to buy the g2 ssd to replace the traditional hdd. Since you budget is only $250 (ssd cost around 200 and ultrabay adapter cost around 70 on Lenovo.com), I would get the mSata. Down the road if you need more hdd space you could always add one more hdd with the ultrabay adaptor.

    Thank you for the replies.
I already have the ultrabay adapter, i.e., I would need to buy a new HDD only.
Looks like the second option would still be cheaper, right?
