There is a HD firmware update on Lenovo's website for the x61 series, but you cannot upgrade unless you have the ultrabase! Has anybody found a way around this?
-
Can you install ultrabase then delete it -
Can't use external USB DVD?
-
.

No a usb drive will not work!
And i have no idea what the F&*$ this means "Can you install ultrabase then delete it" -
Do you mean a BIOS update?
I don't see a HD firmware update anywhere in here:

The BIOS update will not require an UltraBase unless you have Vista x64 insta..ed -

Use an image mounter/DVD emulator like MagicDisc:
http://www.magiciso.com/tutorials/miso-magicdisc-overview.htm
This emulates a real CD/DVD drive. Mount the ISO file or whatever file Lenovo wants to burn on to a CD to the MagicDisc drive, an run it from there. -
You have to boot from the disk, so the virtual disks won't work.
-
There's another update available.

But it says only UltraBay will work! I have a X61. Take the HDD out, mount it to a T61 then flash it?? -
can u download to a usb drive and then set a 1 time boot preference to usb?
