I just got my T61 and I am in the process of removing some of the junk they have installed. At least the trial versions.
I uninstalled office 2007 and I still got these servers in there which I believe is a part of office:
microsoft sql server 2005
microsoft sql server native client
microsoft sql server setup support files
microsoft sql server vss writer
and this one as well
microsoft visual c++ 2005
are they safe to remove or are they used by vista?
I haven't installed any programs yet....

They are safe and I had to remove them because I wanted to install SQL server Developer.
You may remove all of those via the control panel - Programs and features
Remove SQL server 2005.
If you have any problems let me. You see, there will be little pieces of sql server left around they won't bother you but they do bother subsequent installations of SQL server. What you have to do to fully remove it is not pretty. Not pretty at all........ -
by the way, if you have office 2003 oir similar and dont need 2007, your uninstalled, unopened, unregistered copy of 2007 will install on any computer, lenovo or not.
sold mine for $150
Uninstall microsoft sql server
