I just did a XP clean install and still have an unknow device.
    It is on:
    Device type: Other devices
    Maunfacture: Unknown
    location: on Intel(R) ICH9M-E LPC Interface Controller - 2917
    Device status
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
To reinstall the drivers for this device, click Reinstall Driver.

    Anyone know what is it?
    Thanks

Did you install IMSM with SATA set to compatibility mode in bios? Turning AHCI back on afterwards.

The only devices listed as unknown after an XP clean install are TPM and the Power Mgmt Driver, see here.

Although this driver is an applications for intel boards powered by HP it's totally compatible.

    Steps:
    1- Download (sp39316.exe)
    2 - Extract ( Run .exe)
3 - Folder on C: will be created.
4 - Go to Unknown Device and then Properties Options
    5 - Update driver options
6 - Choose the correct path (trought have a disk , etc)
7 - On the list - Choose the correct driver
    Intel(R) ICH9M-E LPC Interface Controller - 2917
    8 - Install and restart O.S

I hope this help you. If you get more trouble. Please let me know.
