I own a t500 now for 1 year. In one year I have encountered this problem three times. The problem is when I finish surfing the web or doing work ,when I shut the lid off it should automatically go to sleep mode right? Here is where the problem comes in. When I open the lid the following day I noticed that my battery is completely drained. It seems like the laptop is still on and never went to sleep. The second time this happen I thought nothing of it because it doesn't happen all the time. It felt the battery and it was hot. This second incident happen when I tried to use my computer 2 hours after I shut the lid. The third time was last night I didn't use it until the next day and notice that my battery is drained completely. My battery is good and it is normal.
    What could be causing this?

What OS are you running on your T500? What version of Power Manager do you have? Are you using the latest switchable graphics drivers?

My laptop comes out of sleep if I unplug/plug a usb to it. The same thing happens if there's a significant vibration.

    That would do it.

Check your setting in Power Manager (or Windows Power Options) for what action the computer takes on Lid Close - make sure it is set to "Sleep." Also, try putting your computer to sleep by using Fn + F4 and see if it will go to sleep before you close the lid.

This explains the second incident as the laptop was in the backseat and moving around. I think...

You can address this by going into Device Manager—and unchecking something like Allow this device to wake the computer in a Power Management tab or similar. I don’t have a USB device plugged in now, so can’t tell you exactly what to do, but I’ve had to do this for some of my USB devices to make certain the computer stays asleep.

    This is a feature.
