There's nothing left. You'd need a new machine for better performance.

Is it slow by any means? The W510 has newer CPU but it isn't gonna be much faster.

The W510 does offer a quad core, which for anything CPU intensive, will have an advantage.

You could pop in an X9000 in there maybe and overclock it to 3GHz... but a dual core only goes so far for people who need power, no matter how high a clock. My dream for when i had my 15.4" T61p was to get a Q9000 working in there, but that was shot down quickly.

Exactly, a refurb W700 is going to replace my (now flattened) T61p.

Yeah the other person did. Which is nice (and expected in a way).

I wouldn't recommend doing this, but since it's an option you could put in a faster Core 2 Duo. A 2.6GHz one was available according to the hardware manual: http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/pccbbs/mobiles_pdf/42x3545_03.pdf

I know that a 2.8GHz Core 2 Duo was available for the 15.4 inch T61p, and probably a 3.06GHz one. There's a chance that these would also be available for the 14.1 inch T61p. Would probably be refurbished and $200-$500.

And how do you get a thinkpad flattened? The case is pretty much indestructible.

You could do some exercise while you are carrying it.

Gpig, the fastest Lenovo made was 2.6 at the time. I know because this t61p was ordered with one.

Zaz, it won't run any faster unless the app is written with mulithreading as a design goal.

Yes, the T7800 (hot as hell) or the T9500. And "lead org" yeah the W700 will be fine for me since i don't carry my laptop around everywhere, and when i do i want to always have enough power to game/watch vids/do anything.
