    I just picked up a SL400 for $410 shipped.

    Specs:
    Celeron 2GHz
    1GB DDR2
    DVD+RW
    14.1" WXGA+ 1440x900
    Intel 4500MHD
    160GB 5400RPM

I want to replace the Celeron with a Core2Duo off of eBay. Will any one that is socket P work?

More specifically, will a T7100 work?

Yeah I'm in the same boat--but with the SL500 instead. I am trying to find which chipset is in this lappy? Also, which proc will be the best bang for the buck. Right now I'm just going back to their config site and looking at the options they offer for the sl500 and hoping that they will work in mine (don't see why not?)

I purchased the SL400 with the Celeron too.
According to this ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/pc/pcinstitute/psref/slbook.pdf the chipset is GL40 which only supports the Celeron CPU's.

But that also doesnt show it being capable of 1440x900 resolution.
So it might be the GM45 chipset. If thats the case Im thinking of dropping a P8400 in there.

If thats the case, I'm raising hell. I originally clicked on the Discrete graphics (as the integrated graphics supposedly can't handle the 1440x900 and is not an option) but it listed the x4500 instead of the nvidia 9300.

Worse comes to worse, I return it, best comes to worse, I get a R400, or a SL400 with a Core2Duo
