Alright, right now I only have 256MB of memory in my T42, and have been thinking about upgrading the memory. Would I notice that big of a difference in general use of a notebook if I upgraded to 512? Also, if I did do that, is this the correct specs: 200-pin DDR SO-DIMM 333mhz PC 2700? Thanks

Yes that is the correct specs but I was told not every brand would work. I myself was in your exact situation last week and I decided to get 512MB of Kingston RAm (check their website, google it up) and now it's MUCH faster.

You definitely need at least 512MB in total. Yes 256 still works fine but adding an extra 256 isn't exactly going to burn a hole in your wallet.

512MB is really the minimum you need for XP to perform well, as already noted, you'll see a tremendous improvement.

I went on IBM's website and they have a stick of 256 that i can buy for $45. I didn't find any information on brands that will work though. Anyone have that link handy?

I'd go with Crucial (www.crucial.com), Kingston or Corsair.
