I'm thinking about a 2Gig stick of Ram and possibly a bigger, faster 7200 hard drive in the future.

Ram will be ordered before the Lappy shows up at my door.
    Hard drive will wait.

    Any other thoughts on upgrades?
    Can I expand video?

I bought this machine to be borderline future-proof.
I primarily bought the machine for the processor. Everything else is upgradeable.

I'm borderline Giddy as my last lappy was built out of leftovers.

I just ordered a T61 myself, should be here in about 2 days. From my understanding a lot of the laptop is not easily upgradable. The ram and hardrive are with no problems. If you have integrated graphics, you can't add a discrete GPU since a different motherboard is required. If you got the one with the discrete GPU, I heard that the card is soldered to the board. I posted a question about swaping out the CDRW drive for a DVDRW and found that it is hard to find one that fits. ALso the bluetooth and Wifi are not easy or impossible to change. Could go for a USB/Express card solution at best. Thats my understanding of things.....

Cd and Dvd are not an issue. That's what my desktop is for.

Bluetooth doesn't matter either. I'm not that important or hurried.

Wireless right now is Budget B, so anything faster is nice, not necessary. (look at my current Craptop to compare)

I appreciate your opinion! Everyone has different needs, and mine are not all that strenuous.

All other opinions are welcome. I'm open to all!

    Thanks!

So what are you looking for? What do you want to upgrade beside the gpu?

The Ram is first up...as stated it will be the first.

The HD will no doubt be upgraded after a while.

Once these are done, I can't see the machine lasting any less than 3 years.

The video is not a big problem right now. I may never need to upgrade.

    Thoughts?
