    Hy!!
I just ordered a T61P ( 64606YG ) from a local retailer. Where I live you can't customize your machine so you can only buy preconfigured ones. The one that I bought comes with XP. Can I upgrade my XP licience to vista through expres upgrade.

Is there anything provided in the package that would help me in this matter or I just have to work it by myself on the microsoft.com?

There's nothing in the package. I would assume you'll have to buy a Vista Upgrade - one that supports doing a clean install.

There's a workarround to do a clean install with the upgrade, google it.

You might also choose to buy an OEM version of it ($110 Home prenium)

I was kind of hoping of trading my XP licience for a vista one. Is there any way to do that and not have to pay for a new one?

You would have to take that up with Lenovo. Your most cost effective strategy outside of getting Lenovo to cooporate (odds are low) is to get an OEM disk. Do not walk into Best Buy or a chain store and buy the retail upgrade. Will cost you more and not worth it for the same thing.

The thing is I don't live in America where OEM vista is cheap. Well it seems I have to go and work out a way to buy a vista OEM.

One more thing: because I did not want to start a new thread... Is this a bad time to buy a T61P? Mine in a T7500 with 100GB 7200 2gb RAM 15,4 WUXGA wich I plan to upgrade to 4GB ram and 200GB 7200 or 320Gb 5400 (as soon as I can find definite proof to see wich one is faster). I know penryn is coming in a ferw days but besides the faster speeds of the CPU and larger cache what will change in the T61P?

I don't think much will change besides what you said. The real change will be made in the summer when the Montevina Platform hits the market.
