I'm interested in upgrading my DVD-ROM to a DVD Burner. I found that GSA-U10N is supposed to be compatible with the T61 and with other makes like Toshiba and HP (can anyone confirm?).

Anyway, what I really wanted to ask is how difficult is it to upgrade? Is it just a matter of replacing the drive that's in the slot and installing a driver or is there an additional procedure?

    Thanks for your help!

The upgrade is easy - just swap them out and windows does the rest. With that being said, I have an extra DVD burner for my T61 from when I had to replace my laptop (insurance claim.) PM me if you are interested in working out a deal.

BTW - the model number on the drive is GSA-U10N. It is branded with the lenovo logo, though. I don't know anything about the housings on OEM units from other brands.
