I have the Lenovo Ideapad Y410p
    I upgraded/installed to DDR3 16GB Memory,
Samsung 850 EVO 500GB 2.5" SATA III SSD as the main drive,
1TB HDD SATA II HDD via Ultrabay for storage
    9 cell 7800mAh battery
    With Windows 10 Pro x64

I installed the SSD as main and HDD in ultrabay,
using SATA WIRE 3.0 to copy HDD drive to SSD.

Everything seems to work fine, but somehow I ended with 4 hard drives???
    See attached Screenshots.
What did I do wrong? What should I do?

OK, so I take out the HDD ultrabay and check again and it is different than the ones I posted above... name, size & order. This does show the 500GB SSD.

It looks like you made a mirror copy of the 1TB HDD onto the SSD so it is showing them correctly. If it is an issue for you, you should remove the 1TB HDD from Ultrabay, see to it that it boots fine from SSD (which it does?) and then delete the partitions from the 1TB HDD, making it one or as desired, to use for storage.

If you want to retain data on both then keep using it like this. You can change/remove drive letters of the LENOVO partitions and keep only the largest of the 1TB partition, making it D drive.

Thanks for the reply. I would want to keep the partition for the 1TB HDD in case I ever want to put it back as the main HD.
However, how could I make the main drive with the partition into one? I know I could delete the partition, but wouldn't I lose the GB's?
The partition has the Applications & Drivers on them... which would have to be moved to the main drive before deleting or re-sizing.
It might be best to leave everything as it is. It doesn't bother me as long as I know everything works and it seems to.
One thing I know, this notebook is FAST now.

Deleting the partition would be one option, another would be using partition software to merge them OR using the Disk Management options under Control Panel to delete the unnecessary partitions and then try merging them. But I'd recommend you just remove the drive letters of the Lenovo partitions so they do not show up in Computer and then changing drive letter and driver name of the 1TB to D drive, using it for storage as it is.

You won't be able to use those GBs in the Lenovo backup partitions but with the disks these sizes, I don't think it should be an issue.

    Ran into a problem?
I put the Ultrabay with the 1TB HDD back in and it won't show up???
Took it out and put it back in 3 times now and no joy... it worked the first time I booted up both the SSD & Ultrabay drives... you can see that in my first post. Adding to my post, when I went into BIOS setup, the HDD shows up there. So why isn't it showing up in File explorer with the SSD?
    Any ideas what happened?

I would assume you've gone into the Disk Management to see if the 1TB HDD is visible there???

Have you tried booting the system with just the HDD in place (I assume it still has the bootable OS partitions in place?), any errors showing in the Event Logs, if you download & run CrystalDiskInfo does it detect both storage devices and also have you tried booting off of a Linux Live CD/USB to see if it the issue is just specific to Windows as well?

It's odd as I've not seen this issue before but TBH the systems I've worked on are business class ThinkPads rather than the consumer class IdeaPads, Yoga, etc.

If I put the HDD in the main bay it works. I will try it again, then put it back in ultrabay as it did work the first time I did it. Strange it would show up in BIOS, but not anywhere else.

This seems to have fixed the problem by disabling USB booting in BIOS.
Don't know why that worked, but it did? Can someone explain?

I honestly can't as I've not dealt with the consumer Lenovo range systems (I know there are differences with regards to the BIOS/UEFI) - it would suggest to me that there was a boot-up related conflict between the two storage devices. I assume the the original HDD didn't have any bootable partitions on it at all once everything was switched over?

It was booting fine when it was the main HD. And it showed up the first time I put it in the ultrabay. Then when I took it out for some benchmarks, it wouldn't show up again when I put it back in ultrabay until I disabled USB booting in BIOS. I looked all over the web for a solution with no joy, then finally figured it out in BIOS. Go figure.
