The Fire Snake Notebook Virtuoso
How did you upgrade? I remember your thread where you were asking what to do about your screen. Did you do it yourself or pay for it?
-
Is it an LED backlit screen or a typical TFT? If you switched to LED backlit, your lappy's battery life must be improved, too.
-
It's TFT. I paid a technician to do it.
It seems a lot brighter, the colors look fine. My initial thought is that the whites looked a bit blue but I am not sure. It sort of looks frosty but then again I am not sure if that's normal.
The colors are very vibrant, and the backlight is bright. It just looks frostier then my old LCD. -
can you install everest and find out the model of the panel?
how much did it cost to have the technician install it? did you pay for the part separately? -
The screen cost $320, and I went to my friend who is a technician and he installed it.
ANYONE know how to find out whether it is grainy or not? -
I'm not sure how can you see if it's grainy @1680x1050 .. those dots a pretty small.. Do you have cleartype enabled?
-
It's @1440x900 not @1680x1050. I am not sure exactly what grainy is. It just looks like the screen is "frosty". You know how you have shower doors and they could be frosted so you can't look through. That's was it sort of looks like but mostly noticeable on white colors. I am not sure if this is normal because the colors are VERY sharp and the backlight is very strong. I can see font VERY clearly, what is cleartype and should I enable it? Maybe I am worrying to much.
It just looks a bit frosty, but other then that fonts are VERY readable, colors are sharp, backlight is strong, great viewing angles. -
My font is clear. Do you have a sort of "fuzzy" look, when you look at white colors closely?
-
This was my 1st laptop
so may be I'm just used with it, although I don't use my brightness at maximum and never noticed anything unusual.
-
But on white colors do you see a sort of fuzzyness/frostyness? Open Notpad full screen. Does it look plain sharp white or is it frosty/fuzzy/sparkly?
-
Yes, whites are for sure fuzzy/grainy/sparkly. I am so frustrated! I don't know what to do?
-
If you're happy with it then stop worrying. Also the color reproduction is likely not going to be amazing since it is a laptop tn panel.
-
Yes, the frostiness has been an issue on some displays. Also, the LG LED displays (at least those used in Thinkpads) tend to display overly cool colors (bluish white).
-
So it's normal? Other then the frostiness, the colors are sharp, angles are amazing and backlight is amazing. Is it worth exchanging for another one of the same model screens or will it end up being the same thing?
-
My advice would be to see how it is in real life usage and stop looking for problems
-
You are right.
-
You don't understand though. The frostyness is really annoying, especially on white backgrounds!
