First off I appologize if this is a repeated thread. I did search and the information I am looking for was hit and miss.

I am planning on getting a T60, ordering tomorrow probably. I do need this notebook as soon as possible, so my question is. Later when Merom is available, will I be able to upgrade to it without losing the Lenovo warranty?
The same question goes to HDD and RAM upgrades.

I have gathered that it will be possible to upgrade to Merom with just a BIOs update, correct me if I am wrong.

Upgrading RAM/HDD wouldn't void the warranty. But replacing the CPU does.

That is provided Lenovo offers one which seems unlikely.

Thanks for the information...the CPU thing makes me want to wait, but I simply can not. I think even the current core duo is more than I need, so I will be fine I think. My only reason for wanting to upgrade the CPU is I would like to make this notebook last the 4-5 years I will be attending college.

I was also thinking of upgrading to a merom when it comes out, however after reading a core 2 duo review that yohah 2Ghz performs fairly close to a merom 1.86Ghz, I gave it up and spent my money earlier on a 7200rpm HDD, which I think is totally worth it considering the speed improvement I noticed. HDD is supposed to be the bottle neck in a current pc configuration.
FYI, my T60@2Ghz performed twice faster than my P4 3Ghz HT desktop when doing the same video conversion.

Wow, that is impressive. I'm currently on a 2.4Ghz P4 HT laptop. I think I just like having the option of upgrading if needed more than anything else. But nontheless that is great information. Thank you.
