I just received my Z61p few days ago and I must say it's awesome. However, I do have a thought to upgrade the Hitachi HD to something else that's even quieter. Can anyone give me some info as on which HD is the quietest avaliable and if I need to clone the HD image onto the new one if I do buy it? Thanks.

Hitach drives are a bit louder than most. If you were considering a new drive, i would suggest a Seagate, as they are quite enough. Make sure that the hard disk change won't void your warranty. Hope this helps.

Regarding 100GB 7200 harddrives of both Hitachi and Seagate, you might want to take a look at this:

and this:

Both reviews give a draw between the competing Hitachi and Seagate harddrives. But I went for the Seagate model because it's comparatively quieter. The five years warranty is also a plus. Though Hitachi is relatively faster, real world differences might not be very noticeable. -
Would I have to just clone the old HD onto the new HD on another machine and install it? I am not so familiar with migrating HD so need to make sure.

yeah, that is one way of doing it..

Here you go. A guide from Cnet I viewed a while ago. Exactly what you are doing. A 4:00 minute video included. http://help.cnet.com/Desktops/9602-12576_39-0.html?tag=tip-2504803&nodeId=3118&messageID=2504803&kw=Desktops
What Cnet used. Has cloning software included with the enclosure and USB 2.0 cable. http://reviews.cnet.com/EZ_Upgrade_Universal_Notebook_Hard_Drive_Upgrade_Kit_with_Hi_Speed_USB_2_0_enclosure_and_cloning_software/4505-3014_7-30536726.html?tag=txt
The guide will show you everything.
