I'm thinking of getting an old Thinkpad X30 12" laptop (pentium 3). I have 1gb of ram (2 512's) from my broken HP dv9000t sitting around and am wondering if i could put it in.

No, the RAM will not be compatible. The dv9000t has DDR2 memory and the ThinkPad X30 requires PC133 SDRAM.
