Just found out we will be getting T60 at work (2GHz Core Duo, GMA 950, 14", CDRW/DVD drive). Since it doesn't come with DVD writer, will I be able to purchase one separately or upgrade from Lenovo? The reason why I'm curious is because I own T42 with CDRW/DVD and I can't upgade to DVD write since T42 comes in two different frames with only one which accepts DVD burner. I just would like to know if this has been changed with T60 and if it has a universal frame to accept either drives?

You can get the Ultrabay slim DVD burner from Lenovo, not sure if the T60 one will work in the T42...

You probably misunderstood me. For my T42 there is no internal DVD writers cause of the frame. I'm using an external one now. What I was curious about is if all of all T60 have the same frame which will accept either CDRW/DVDRW or CDRW/DVD, because the one which I will be getting at work will not have DVDRW in it.

You can switch out the ultrabay. See This.
They are indeed switchable--both drives will fit
It would probably be cheaper to use an external burner though if you don't need to take the drive with you everywhere. I don't know about upgrading 3rd party--you would need to be sure that you get the slim dvd-burner as the t60 uses a low-profile bay.
Good luck. -
I'd have to agree with vespoli and encourage the use of an external burner. They are superior to any notebook internal / swappable burner.
