    Hi Guys,

Is it possible to upgrade the T61's display card component after purchase?? So for example can I hand the machine back to Lenovo and get them to replace the Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 to a 128MB nVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M?? I know you can opt for either of these components when you originally customize and purchase the machine. What about the cpu component as well? Sorry if this has been asked many times.

    Cheers,

    Greg

I believe that Lenovo will not do this. It's not a wise thing to rely on such upgrades.

I am not sure if the two are interchangeable since the integrated graphics are on board. Can someone confirm that you could even do this? I don't think this is possible.

I have a problem that sounds similar but isn't.

I just bought a system that was supposed to have WWAN and instead it came with turbo memory. Both are user changeable cards. But there is more to it. The front panel plate wit the LEDS has a WWAN LED which is missing on my system. I am wondering what lenovo would do about that?

Well if it was their mistake they need to correct the mistake. Invoice versus the reality of what you have in your hand should make it easy to get them to repair it. If possible I would insist on either onsite (avoid deport), or replacement with the right unit.

This was not lenovos' mistake. According to the guy who sold it, it was his mistake. He sold a bunch of them as having Sierra cards and mine doesn't. It sounds like an easy thing to fix. One might think it's simply a card swap. But it's more. The front clear plate with the LEDs is also going to have to be changed.

That's why I need a depot and on the web page where you find a depot the first question asked is: Enter company name. But that's the information that I'm looking for.
