Hey everyone,
I just purchased a 120GB Intel SSD for my T410 since right now I'm using the crappy 5,400RPM disk. I read that the intel ones work well with thinkpads but I'm a bit worried about migrating all the data from my current hard drive do the SSD.
I was thinking that maybe it would be easier to just back up all my important files (not many) and then doing a clean install once the SSD got here, but how would I go about doing that and getting all the Lenovo ThinkVantage stuff? If anyone that's upgraded to an SSD could help that would be fantastic![]()
I want to get this stuff out of the way now so when the SSD arrives I can install it hassle free.

A clean install is the way I go.
I used this to make my Windows disk: http://forum.notebookreview.com/windows-os-software/428068-legal-windows-7-download-links-just-like-vista-before.html
Then find the drivers/programs I need from the Lenovo website. I believe this would be all of the drivers you need: Lenovo Support - Drivers and software - ThinkPad T410, T410i, T410s, T410si, T510, T510i and W510 -
Go with a clean install, the lenovo website has all the drivers you need.

Thanks guys! Much appreciated. It's probably much easier and 'cleaner' to do a clean install instead of using data migration software.
Also, is it possible to revert it to factory settings once I install windows 7 again? Going through all those drivers seems a bit tedious. -

Yeah...a clean install is always best. You can always keep the ThinkVantage software in reserve and use that for drivers etc.

It's actually not that bad to comb through the drivers on the Lenovo site. When you do a clean install, you realize how little of the bundled Lenovo software you actually need. Most of your hardware will be automatically detected by Windows 7.
I did a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate N x64 (yes, I detest WMP12 that much) a bit over a week ago and here's the only Lenovo-related software I installed:
Airbag protection (which you won't need)
Fingerprint software
ThinkVantage Power Manager
Audio drivers
Hotkey utility
UltraNav drivers
As for the video, I kept switchable graphics disabled as I have pretty much since the time I got this laptop and downloaded Mobility Radeon HD 3650 drivers direct from AMD (at last, thank you AMD; Mobility Modder was an unnecessary PITA). -

Or you could make a complete (getting all petitions) copy and back it up to to the tatget disk. The question is actually how many partitions you have.
