Alright, right now I have an X200s with the Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family. Now as I understand to upgrade the graphics on this machine, I would need to replace the motherboard with a new motherboard with a better integrated graphics card. So several questions:

    1. Is is possible to replace the motherboard on the X200s (I would not be doing the replacing, I would send it to a professional shop for that)?
    2. If it is possible to take out the motherboard, are there other motherboards out there with integrated graphic chips that one could but that would be considerably better than the Mobile 4 Series and of course compatible with the X200s and Windows Vista 64bit and Windows 7 64bit and if so what motherboards would they be (and by considerably better I do understand that no Mobo Intergrated Graphics chip will be better than actually having a dedicated card, but since the x200s does not have such a slot, I will take something that gives improved performance)?
    3. Where would I buy such a Mobo and around how much would it cost? In addition are there any authorized Lenovo professional shops that would do the installation for me or shall I have to find a reputable professional shop myself (not a big deal)?

    Thanks for the help!
    David

PS. I have tried googling all this, but can't find an answer either on Lenovo's website or intel's or anywhere else.

I have to be honest and not recommend this. I don't think it is worth it at all. Though I don't know the exact cost, the motherboard for the X200s will be very expensive and will probably cost as much as the machine itself. Also even if you did replace the motherboard and got another better integrated GPU I don't think you will see much more of an improvement in 3D performance, certainly not close to a discrete card. Bottom line - NOT WORTH IT.

Lenovo does not make any other motherboard than what is currently in your laptop. Intel Integrated graphics is all that is available. You can't put in a third party motherboard to change out the graphics. Every manufacturer designed their motherboards to fit their computers and they are not cross brand compatible. Sorry.

That is what what I thought, though for the life of me I could not find a single website telling me this. Thanks for the info guys! You have confirmed my suspicions. I will probably have another questions about what games work on the laptop but for now, thanks again!
