    Hi,

I have a Lenovo T61p that i like to upgrade to save some extra battery. My upgrade would be with a newer cpu and an SSD disk. Plus with an extra battery in my Multibay and replace the DVD drive as i dont use it much.

Currently T61p has an Intel T9600 with socket P. The one I like to upgrade to would be any P8x00 series cpu as they only use 25W power.

The cpu i have found is a P8800 with 1066Mhz FSB. My current T9600 is running with 800 Mhz FSB.

    1. First question is, how much extra battery time could I expect by moving from a 35W cpu to 25W cpu??

    2. Would it even be worth all the trouble?

    3. If it is, is this upgrade even possible?

    4. If not, does it mean that I have to find a P8x00 cpu with 800Mhz FSB before it works with my chipset?

I have done a BIOS upgrade and I have tested 6GB RAM in it so that was all good. Windows 7 recognised that. Sweet ;)

I would really appreciate if someone could assist me with this upgrade

    Thanks :)

Just undervolt your T9500 with Throttlestop, locking the highest stable multiplier at the lowest voltage available and get a low-power SSD like a Intel X25M G2. Though I exit Throttlestop after doing that as it consumes a bit doing it's monitoring.

If you have a Soundmax soundcard, X3100 graphics or wifi, then consider powersavings driver tweaks as shown here.

    EDIT: 965PM doesn't support 1066Mhz T or P processors. T9500-2.6 is the highest C2D available for it.
