    Hi,

I was thinking about upgrading from 2Gb to 4Gb RAM on my x300. I'm running 32-bit Vista. I realise the whole thing about only seeing 3.5Gb ram and the law of dimishing returns after 2Gb.

I was wondering if anyone has done this and noticed any perceptible difference.

    Thanks,
    BM.

I haven't seen a X300, but have seen notebooks with 4GB. I personally noticed no difference. It may be worth it. Memory's so cheap right now.

Yeah, it really isn't worth stressing over when memory is as cheap as it is now. You can get a single module of a top of the line brand of 2 GB RAM for a little over 30 bucks. If you have any interest then go ahead and do it, cause it'll be worth it sooner or later.

To address your question more specifically, it probably won't make a significant difference in 32 bit Vista. However, I recommend you go ahead and update to 64 bit, where it WILL make a difference. The driver compatibility issue isn't a problem anymore. And if you have the license to 32 bit vista you can get a 64 bit installation CD from microsoft for the cost of shipping.
