    Hi,

I've had an Intel ThinkPad Edge 11 for about a year and overall I've been very happy with it. The best thing about it is the form factor and the fantastic keyboard (the only negative is the noise of the fan, but I've got used to it).

However there are a couple of upgrades I'd like and wondering if there’s a suitable model (whilst keeping the keyboard and 11.6 size)

CPU - My notebook has an i3 380um, its abit underpowered (cpubenchmark 1315). The current x121 has a i3-2367M (cpubenchmark 1835).

SATA III - I’ve just bought a Crucial M4 SSD and to utilise the max speed, I'd want SATA III. Neither the Edge 11 nor x121e have this.

The other two features I want are configuration options which I didn't get, a matt screen and integrated mobile broadband.

It would seem that the ThinkPad Edge 11 has been superseded by the x121e - my only concern is that it’s a ruggedized and therefore more bulky?

Reading through this thread, seems that the x131e is imminent.

I know it’s just speculation, but any ideas if the x131e will have SATA III, I'm assuming it will have Ivy Bridge refresh which will mean CPU will be at least as powerful as i3-2367M, or better battery life.

What kinds of tasks that you are doing is your current laptop having trouble with?

    Thanks for the link

ThinkPad X131e - Tough Laptop For Schools from Lenovo (US)

Unfortunately the tech specs pdf attached to the url is not available yet (coming soon). It lists the x131e as available in September, thats a US date, hopefully it will be the same time (or sooner) in the UK.

One thing I did notice was the the CPU is described as 2nd Generation i3; which i guess would mean the existing family of CPUs as in the x121e, i.e. i3-2357M and not the upcoming Ivy Bridge ULV Core i3-3217U
