Hi everyone. I just had a couple questions about this. I recently purchased a Western Digital Elements 400gig external Hdd (product link HERE), and I've read on some forums that these can be used to replace a current laptop internal hdd. My laptop is a Lenovo R61 14.1".

First of all, is this true? And second, is there a guide that shows how to do this?

Thanks in advance for your opinions/advice.

If the external drive contains a 2.5 inch sata drive it should work. Externals are usually just a regular drive inside an enclosure. I don't know if I'd recommend doing it. Theres a chance you could break it while taking it apart, and I don't see the benefit of using this drive as opposed to just buying a 2.5 inch drive. You don't know what drive is in the external so it may be slow. Better off buying a big 7200rpm drive, they're cheap enough now.
