i'm thinking of upgrading my notebook memory to 2GB. it's a t60p with 1 gb of memory. i don't know if i really need the upgrade, but my school has this tempting offer for the Kingston 1 GB memory at around USD 85, i just think that it's a good investment. does laptop has the dual channel feature?? can i paired the ibm carried memory with a Kingston? an IBM costs twofold of the Kingston.

make sure the 1gb you have and the one your school is offering is a single stick, otherwise you'd end up with 4 sticks of 512 and only be able to use two. I'm pretty sure the dual channel feature exists, however, its more a techie term than a technological triumph. Not much/ very noticeable performance gain

Is it a centrino,In the Ram Guide (on this site) it says centrino nearly has no issue with dual channel,Download CPU Z go to SPD tab.
The memories should have the same speed (e.g. PC2700,etc.)
And I think they should have the same features.
And I will be much better if they are exactly the same model.
Contact your support to make sure of the dual channel support and the memory size limit. -
I am thinking about the same thing.
Considering the fact that 83 processes are runing at the same time here, I think it will be a must to upgrade to 2G some time later.
