    Hey,
Right now I have a T60p running on XP Pro. Im going to upgrade to a T61p but cant decide whether I want Vista or not. Im thinking of sticking with Xp, but was wondering what your opinions were. Also, what are the main differences between the T60p and the T61p? Is the video card in the T61p going to be better for gaming, the firegl 5250 seems to run pretty good, playing newer game s on med/high settings.

    Thanks for any help.

I just got my T61p with Vista Business 64bit and I like it. I would prefer XP but Vista, to me, is the future so I might as well bit the bullet. Honestly it runs smooth as hell after you do a nice clean install. Unfortunately I haven't done mine yet because I needed to do work ASAP but my friend has.

I agree, I had the same questions but decided to go with XP and I'm glad I did, it runs like a bullet and I didn't even do a clean install, just cleaned our a lot of crap and tweaked things (and removed symantec and put NOD32 on it instead.) Now to be honest I am using a T60, not T61 but my system has a lot of ram and decent specs, I still think you will be happy that you stuck with XP for a few more years, then port over whatever important info you need when Vista runs as well as everyone would like.

Thanks for the comments, I'm ordering today as it is the last day of the sale and will be sticking with XP for now.

If you've already ordered, disregard this... But the last two machines I ordered with Vista Business, an X60 Tablet and an X61 Tablet, both came with XP recovery CDs *in the box*. That is a much better deal than paying extra for XP, because the machine is licensed for both OSes. Just be sure to burn your Vista recovery CD+DVD set before running the XP recovery.

I'm running Vista x64 on my X61 Tablet and I like it quite a lot. The Start menu is a *huge* improvement over XP, especially for keyboard users. Hit the Windows key and start typing - it searches for Start menu items, other programs, Outlook messages, and other files all in one search.
