    Hi friend,

I just got a new T61p laptop for some days. There is a very strange point happening with my lappy : whenever I increase the volume control (in windows) to listen to music, the left speaker always has some cracked sound !!!

I thought it might be a kind of driver update. I tried to update the newest driver for Soundmax, and also do the latest update for my Windows (i'm using Win Vista Ultimate SP1), but it didn't solve the problem.

Could you please guide me what I should do to fix the problem ?

    Really appreciate any help,

    SIncerely yours,

Speakers generally do crack when driven too hard. What level of volume are we talking about? If it is at a volume just for personal use...well, a speaker like that is bad. If you are trying to entertain an auditorium of people...well, you need external speakers.

Sincerely apologize for that. I just thought making more thread can help to get more solutions for my problem.

About my above problem , the Volume i mentioned here is the Volume Control inside the Windows. Whenever I tried to increase the volume to get over half of the volume bar, that itchy noise came T_T.

Please guide me what I should do now.

    SIncerely yours,

Yeah that is probably normal. My speakers start to sound cracky around that level. Like Greg said get external speakers if you need to play sound in a big place. Otherwise headphones are good too.

I have the same issue. I contacted the Lenovo Support in Atlanta. They told me I could ship it out to them and they would fix it and send it back. Turn around time is about 2-5 days. But I figured that it would take roughly 4 days to get there, then 2-5 business days for them to repair it, then another 4 days for them to ship it back to me at least = 3 weeks roughly (weekends are down time of course). I use my Thinkpad daily for CAD at work, so I can't afford to go 3 weeks without it.

i hear some sort of cracking noise coming from somewhere on my t61p as well (don't know if it's the speakers or microphone), but i get over it -- it's not anything too annoying.
