    Hello,

    I have an urgent question:

    Was there a T60p ( w/ 256MB ATI Mobility FireGL V5200 - discrete graphics chipset) with a "15 inch XGA (1024 x 768 resolution) TFT display"?

If yes do you have a product number?

    Thank you for your answers.

Here are the specs for the T60 and T60p:

    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-62722.html#display

While a 15" 1024x768 display is listed, I have a hard time believing it would have been available on the T60p, seeing as it's the workstation version. I think it's more likely it was only available on the T60.

Scroll to the bottom of the page, and it appears the ATI Mobility FireGL V5200 was only paired with 1600x1200 and 1400x1050 displays.

    A shop offered a T60p with a XGA display.

I called today and was told that the laptop has been upgraded with a FireGL 5200. The parts lookup says "ATIM56-256" which is the FireGL 5200, right?
The laptop is basically a T60 (with XGA display) upgraded to a T60p.

I also was wondering if there ever was a true T60p with a XGA display.

I believe that video is onboard on the ThinkPad T60 line --thus, it would be impossible to upgrade to a FireGL 5200 without replacing a T60's mainboard with a T60p one. I wouldn't say it's impossible, but that's an expensive board and time consuming process; enough that I'd find it unlikely.

The only 256MB ATI card offered with the T60 series was the FireGL 5200; the alternat ATI X1300 and X1400 cards are 64MB and 128MB respectively.

I get a bad feeling about this, from the information you've given. Unless you know this shop's work and trust them completely, or unless you have someone who really knows ThinkPads who can look this one over, I'd pass it up. 1024x768 is also a very low resolution these days on a 15" display; I wouldn't want any less than 1280x1024 for a standard 4:3 screen like that.
