    Hello,

I have a T530. The laptop is always closed and it connects to a 24-inch monitor. Can I use a VGA SVGA monitor Y splitter to connect another 24-inch monitor so that I can see different content on the two different 24-inch monitors? My T530 runs on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit.

This is the splitter I found at eBay. Is it going to work for my need?

    Thanks!

You're making it too difficult. Easier solution is to get a mini displayport to vga or dvi adapter (which ever connection you prefer0 and hook up your 2nd monitor that way.

That's probably not what you want. You want this

    http://www.amazon.com/Cable-Matters-DisplayPort-Thunderbolt-Compatible/dp/B00DJCB83O

assuming your monitor has a dvi connection. If it does you'll hook up the little trapezoid mini displayport to your t530.

    So I can buy that

Cable Matters Mini DisplayPort (Thunderbolt™ 2 Port Compatible) to DVI Cable in Black 6 Feet

from Amazon and then connect the second external monitor to the first EXTERNAL monitor? In this way, only the first external monitor directly connects to my laptop?

The back of my first and second external monitors (same maker, same model) have: HDMI, DVI, and D-Sub.

If I buy that cable from Amazon and connects it to the first external monitor via DVI, how can I connect the cable to the second monitor, which does not have a small port that matches the small end in the product?

    Best.

Do your monitors have blue vga ports or white dvi ports. If you want to hook up to the blue vga ports order a mini displayport to vga. If the monitor has white dvi ports order a mini displayport to dvi cable.

Why everything that difficuilt. I have a T530 here, and I'm currently writing this text on this machine. It is in the Dockingstation, and I have plugged two 24" TFT with 1920x1200 resolution connected using DVI.
At all a 24" TFT on a VGA (analog output) is crap. I switched to DVI when I used the first 1280x1024 TFT display because the display quality was not really good on VGA....

Thank SO much for the docking station idea. Just bought one from eBay.
