    Hello,

I saw a Lenovo G530 for 475 Dollars which I would like to purchase. It comes with Vista Basic. I have a Win 7 Upgrade CD from a previous Lenovo Thinkpad purchase which I didn't use yet.

The Lenovo website says I could only use it to upgrade from a Vista Premium and up.. However I have seen some sources (including microsoft) say you can still do a custom install or a clean install even if you don't have the right version. Does this apply to the Lenovo Win 7 upgrade cd? Will I be able to install a windows 7 instead of the Vista Basic using the upgrade cd?

Also, will a G530 with Intel Pentium Dual-core T3400 2.16GHz and 2 (or 3) GB DDR2 SDRAM will be able to handle Windows 7 smoothly?

Thank you for your time and help.
