I just received my set of XP Pro Recovery Disks. How many are there supposed to be? I have 7 discs total; 1 Rescue and Recovery disc and 6 XP Recovery discs.

I am unable to boot from the XP Disc 1. How do I use these discs?

Did you set your BIOS to boot from CD?

The only CD that will boot is the Rescue and Recovery CD.

I may have found the solution.

    1. Boot up the Rescue and Recovery Disc. It should automatically boot up if you have the disc already inside. If not, press the blue ThinkVantage button, press f12, and select boot from CD/DVD drive.

    2. Select System Recovery. The third option should say Factor Install. Select that. Then follow the directions.

It'll ask for the other 6 disks later on. I'm currently on my 2nd disk. If this works, I suggest creating your own recovery disks with DVDs, so you won't need to swap 6 disks next time you want to do another factory install.
