Is it possible to display an external video game system on the t60p screen?
-
As far as I know, the laptop display is directly connected to the motherboard, so I think we can safely rule out the hardware based solutions.
As for software-based solutions, I think you can do it, but I am not sure about the performance... -
Yes you can, google for the EasyCap USB 2.0 device.
It lets you capture from RCA leads or S-Video, it works fine also for recording audio.
Quality is average, I've gamed on my T61 connected with my PS2 slim, sometimes when playing there is a little delay (like if the image freezes for like 1-2 seconds) but it's no biggie.
Although after a while I got tired and started gaming on a standard CRT 15" TV. -
It's been a while since I used a capture-card solution, but last time I did, the lag made gaming unplayable. However, this was on a AMD Athlon XP+ notebook with usb 1.1, lol.
I know this isn't what you're looking for, but it may be of some interest: There's a piece of software out there called MaxiVista which lets your computer act as a secondary display for another computer using your network connection.
