Looking at the advanced thinkpad dock; it says it has x1 pci-e SLOT.

This got me thinking, can i use a desktop graphics card, say a 7600GT with this dock? I know it wouldnt be x16, but does the interface speed really affect things that much?

what are the size constraints, if any?

Does anyone have detailed pictures of the PCI interface on the advanced dock?

Im thinking i can have a nice dedicated gaming GPU to use with my Thinkpad when battery life isnt important (IE when plugged in)

You will not be able to game on it. The pcie 1x slot is not intended for that purpose. It's a novel idea, but not workable.

It only takes the half-height cards. It's purpose is to let you use multiple monitors...though honestly I think they should make one that would let you game.

7600GT runs on PCIx16 so x1 would be dreadfully slow.
