    Using the 65W adapter on a T420 w/ turned off discrete?

    Say I turn off the discrete gpu in the bios settings. Would it be safe to use a 65W adapter? This is to save some weight & space when traveling since i dont game when im out.

    Yes. And even if you leave optimus on and simply don't load anything 3d and force your browser \all else\ to launch on intel.

    It's something I wouldn't be sure about unless I try it. Given that Lenovo's BIOSes are set to lock the CPU at minimum speed if the battery is not present then it might do the same if it thinks that the PSU is inadequate for the hardware configuration. If it is clever then it will check whether Optimus is enabled but I wouldn't bet on it.

    Theoretically it should work, but know that it may not charge your battery as quickly vs a 90 watt adapter.
