I can't seem to find an understandable tutorial on how to use the fingerprint reader to log onto websites.

I use Opera browser, if you need to know that.

Hmmm, I know I read that this is possible. Does anyone know how?

There is this client security application from lenovo. Though i dont use it, it can be easily configured to work with IE or FF, not sure about Opera. The plugin for FF needs an update incase you are using the latest version of FF. Guess, it should work with IE without much of a problem.

how exactly do you enable this through the Client Security App? I've gone through all the menus/settings in that application and can find anything related to enabling the fingerprint reader in IE. Also where can you get the firefox plugin?

Well, when you install this client security app, there is an icon that sits at the notification area (where the clock is displayed). Just double click it to show the initial dialog. This will ask you to swipe you finger, once its a success, you'll be presented with another dialog box where u can select which apps you to be used with the client security app.

As with the FF plugin, it is also installed when the client security app is installed. After the install, when i started FF, there was a dialog that some client security plugin from lenovo can't be enabled, since it's for the previous version of FF.

Lastly, make sure that you have this finger print Windows logon working already i.e. you can logon to windows by just swiping the finger.

Are you talking about the Thinkvantage Password Manager? Because that's the only thing close to it that I have in my notification area. It does make me swipe my finger before it'll open, but once opened, I don't see anything that allows me to select which applications I want it to work for.

    I'm so confused!

my apologies you are right, This gets installed with the client security manager, so I thought, this is the client security manager, didnt bothered to look at the name :). Anyways, once you are pass the swipe finger dialog on this password manager, at the next window there in the File Menu, there should be a menu item "Set Preferences". Select that option, and then you should be able to see a Preferences dialog, there can select which application you want to used with Fingerprint Reader.
