Hello all! Just wondering if anyone has this configuration, something similar or might know info regarding the V100. I've been going in circles trying to commit to a notebook and can't make the final jump on a particular model, also debating the M1210 equipped similar to the Lenovo.

    C2D T7200 2Ghz 4MBL2, 667MhzFSB
    Intel graph media accel 950
    1GB (will upgrade to 2GB)
    120GB HD, 5400rpm ATA
    8X Dual layer DVD
    Pro wireless 3945abg
    bluetooth
    fingerprint reader
    kensington WiFi finder plus

Will be using for web surfing, online classes, excel and powerpoint, also will have a photo portfolio of some products I manufacture/build the I can show to clients. Any views as how this system will suit these needs and how it will do handling all aspects of Vista - positive and negative.

Thanks to all, I'm new to the site and loving it already.

I am pretty sure that will not be able to run Aero (the new Vista GUI) but it should run the basic vista as per the specs here.

The Asus W7j or Dell M1210 might not be bad choices either.

And you shouldn't be so sure because it will run Aero without any problems.

won't you like a larger laptop? maybe a Z61t? that would make it more larger for your clients to see your products.

    or maybe, a T60?

to all who have replied....thanks for doing so and so quickly I must add, another reason this forum is excellent.

My first choice was the Z61t, just thought the V100 being smaller would be more pratical for mobility, also read about they have been so slow in shipping them out and got a little discouraged. Would the Z61t run Vista more effectively? Any Z61t users care to comment on the performance configured like the V100 I have listed above, I've read a few of the topics focused on the Z61t...seem to be pretty positive.

FYI: I am returning 3 Dell XPS M1210 laptops for 3 Lenovo 3000 V100, based on the review here for the V100 and my personal experience battling Dell with random crashes (BSOD). Others have no issues with the M1210, but I can't handle spending $2000 on a laptop that I can't trust.

I have not gotten the V100's yet, but like you, I have settled on them as a viable replacement. I am a little worried about suffering the onboard video (Intel 950 chipset) as opposed to the dedicated video on the M1210.

The reviews and forums here are pretty good...I love the webcam comparison...

Configured the same they should perform similarly. The Z will be more stout and slightly heavier. I think the screen on the V is glossy whereas the Z is matte. Vista ran fine on my R60.

The ThinkPad z61t is business-class and has so much better build quality, so if it fits your needs I would definitely recommend it over the Lenovo budget series.

How does the Z61t matte screen view compared to the glossy screen of the V100? I'm not real concerned with watching movies on it, just reassurence the photos will look good for presentations to clients, and is the brightness of the screen decent? I'll assume the footprint of the Z61t is comparable in size to other 14.1 models?.. can't seem to find any actual dimensions.

the matte screen will help your presentations look good on your clients as you won't have to worry about glare in the screen or your clients having their faces seen in the screen. :)

How does the V100's compare to say, the R or T series in terms of build quality? I'm considering either the V100 (+small size, + card reader, -trackpad -no trackpoint, -GMA950) or the R60 (+higher-res screen, +dedicated graphics, +modular battery, +trackpoint, -pricier).

Also, the NBR reviewer said of the V100 that the trackpad and buttons were terrible (and it doesn't have the trackpoint nub, either), any V100 owners out there want to weigh in on the trackpad?
