Hello. My name is bjorn, and i'm new here.

Not sure wether to put this in "Windows Vista" forum or "IBM/Lenovo" forum. so i'll have a go with this one.

    I just revently bought my 3000 V200, which i love almost above my gf. Everything is just SMOOTH with this thing. Except for a few annoyances;

    - I've got that world rocking beep when i plug/unplug my charger. i can't find a way to turn it off. tried bios (no settings for it there) and disabling the service in windows. no go. still there.

    - Also, the laptop mostly crashes when i try to put it to sleep or hibernate. I just end up with a blank screen and nothing happens. I have to cold reset it to get any reaction from it. Using the latest PM driver for V200 from lenovo's driver site.

That's all i can think of for now, i'd appreciate any help/tips/etc.

Sorry to have to bump this but.. i'm getting kind of desperate about the hibernate/sleep issue. I've tried everything. Still doesn't cooperate. :/

Like Arkit3kt said, make sure you have the latest updates to try to solve your hibernate problem.

The loud beep you hear when you plug your adapter in is a setting that may be changed with the Lenovo Power Manager:
    1. Open Power Manager
    2. Go to the "Global Power Settings" tab
    3. Uncheck "Beep when power state changes"

I don't think Power Manager is compatible with the V200. It doesn't list it on the Lenovo Website as a supported model. Then again, it could be wrong.

    oh damn you're right...

I dunno how to turn the beep of then...the v-series I bought doesn't beep when the power state changes...I don't think anyway...but I bought it for my gf so I don't use it on a daily basis...

I would assume it would be in the BIOS somewhere but the owner said no.

bjorn, try going into Device Manager, allow hidden devices, and under Non-Plug and Play drivers, look for Beep. Disable that.

    Hopefully that helps.

Thanks a lot guys for your responses. <3

Actually I'm reinstalling (A vLited version of) Vista on the laptop as i'm writing this, to have the pleasure of a clean windows install, without millions of hopeless branded applications etc. and ofcourse hopefully solve the hibernation problem (yes, i tried everything including windows update).

as for the beep problem, i've been googling my ass red and blue without really finding any answer. some people talk about an advanced power manager for the 3000 series being in development at lenovo. so i guess i should just hope it's true and wait for that to be released. Tried your advice Arkit3kt, but beep is already disabled. i believe i tried that sometime earlier also.

Anyway, I'll report back after the reinstall. :)

I get the impression that the v-series, n-series and c-series are being discontinued in favour of the IdeaPads...anyone else get the same impression? So I'd be surprised if the power manager will be developed for the v-series...

My Z61p will not go into sleep mode or hibernate mode when closing lid.

I have tried to activate it, but the settings falls back.

When I have the Z61p in the docking station it allows me to go into sleep or hibernate mode.

    Any idea why?

I am not interested in reinstalling the OS since this is a "work-computer" with alot of advanced program installed on it.
