    Hi,
Anyone knows if there are VISA discounts in UK? I'm not willing to pay 1250gbp for Thinkpad X41... IBM's are highly overpriced in Europe and getting one from the US can be a little troublemaking...

I don't think it runs over there...You could probably get a cheap plane ticket and come over and get one yourself and still save money, LOL.

It's more complicated. I'm going to study in UK but I live in Poland and you have stupid VISA policy (well, we have stupid government that couldnt deal with the problem... if any of those jerks has tried, mayby we woldn't need visas right now). So going to US is out of question... besides, I dont feel like going to US anyway. But if I could, buying a plane ticket and picking an IBM right in the US would really be less expensive than buying it in UK.

But is there absolutely no way to save those few gbp? I would like to pay no more thank 1k gbp...

I can get some nice offers - Fujitsu-Siemens P7010 for 800gbp or Powerbook G4 (I would love to have PB but there are too many compatibility issues...) for the same ammount. But I want IBM!!!

So if someone knows about any discounts, please let me know ^^

BTW, please look at this offer:

Seems nice, but risk is too high. Is there any way to assure buyers safety on Ebay? Some buyer protection? Or when I pay by Paypal and I get scamed, is there any way to get my money back? I havent bought single item on ebay, so I have no idea. This guy says he has just started selling TP's on ebay and he is going to do it for a longer time, not just one transaction... it might be true, but what guarantee I have?

Anyway, it happens that somone sells new X40/41's on ebay for 750-900gbp...

Can I do something to make it a safe deal?

Are you kidding me? Those Hong Kong sellers are a nightmare when they have 5000+ feedback, never mind 0! Pay by paypal, using a credit card. Then you are covered by your CR, Paypal and maybe eBay as well.

However there are companies that will import laptops for you from the US, I am using one right now, however can't recommend it before I recieve my laptop. So you can pm me in a couple days.

EDIT: There you go, a nice legit sale: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LT17-NEW-BM-T...oryZ3715QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I dont know if I understand right. So you think its a scam? But he wants payment through Paypal... so it looks kinda secure. I know PP protects its users somehow, but I dont know how exactly ^^.

Anyway, please send me link to the company you use anyway :) I would like to check it :)

I also have a friend in US, so I tought it would be ok to ask him, and get the current Special Offer for X40 (altough I would rather like X41), but I'm a little affraid of shipping the laptop throught USPS (it costs 30usd and look nice, but will I recieve it in one piece?)

I am not saying it is a scam but:

    1.) It could be.
2.) Even if he does send you the laptop, you will have hassle. Don't go for him.

Go through your friend, shipping laptops is safe as long as they send it in the box.
