    Hi

Apologies if this has been asked before and/or if it appears a bit gormless.

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad 3000 N100 (roughly 18 months old). Running Windows XP Professional SP2.

Whenever I insert a memory stick, the autoplay dialog opens quickly. However it takes ages (sometimes several minutes) to open any folder when I click the Open Folder options.

I've tried this with several memory sticks on and the same result. I've checked the sticks on several PCs, other laptops and a couple of Macs and they open almost immediately. I've also checked that my lenovo has USB2 ports and it does.

Not a screamingly vital issue but something of an annoyance.

Any help/advice would be much appreciated.

    Regards

    George

    Hi Dondadah88

Thanks for the quick response. At the risk of pushing my luck, how would I re-install the chipset?

    Thanks

    George

Just for your information, it is not part of the ThinkPad series, but rather the 3000 series. It is simply called a Lenovo 3000 N100. It's a nice notebook nonetheless.

    Hi JabbaJabba

Thanks for that. DonDadah88 suggested redownloading the USB driver and/or chipset. I've looked on the Lenovo web site and I'm not sure how exactly to find these downloads.

As my laptop is out of warranty, Lenovo won't help me.

    Any ideas.

    Hopefully, George

    Hi

Thanks to all for your help so far. I've had a look at the documentation re downloading the chipset driver but I'm not convinced this is the right solution for my slow memory stick prob.

I can't find any drivers for the USB port and hope maybe someone can point me in the right direction.

    Again, thanks for your help.

    George
