I just wanted to ask the question I am very happy with my Y500 the Ultra Bay sold me. If money was no object, Could a company make a UltraBay GPU super powerfull like GTX680 or GTX780

And say, this will disable yoru current GPU and may only be used while pulgged in.

So in theory you would have your 1 GT750 for use when on battery. And you 1 GTX780 for use when plugged in. ?

So far as an user of Y500, I can safely say that as of now due to the size of Ultrabay, it's physically rather hard to have a cooling solution good enough for the 100W GTX 680M/780M. When even an oc'ed 45W GT750M on Ultrabay can reach high 80C and even 90C, imagine what'd happen with the 680M/780M which dissipates more than twice the power.

What you said probably won't be happening anytime soon due to the high cost of GTX 680M/780M, and high heat and high power requirements. Unless iff, Lenovo redesign the Y400/500 to be about twice as thick, so they can fit Ultrabay that's twice as thick with a twice as thick heatsink.
