    Hey guys.
I've got a really annoying problem with my laptop, and i hope you could help a bit with that.
Lately i've noticed that my LT is running a bit slowly then usuall... the problem was found in the CPU usage... Most of the time being in the 50-60% range, but every 10 seconds or so it spiked up to 99-100% for no reason (it happens even if no program runs at all).
I tried a lot of stuff- scanning for viruses, adwares, spywares, going into High performance mode, disabling the fetch server, checking for bad drivers, but nothing came up.
Then i thought maybe my Nod32 is the reason, but since i have it since ever, and the problem started only few days ago, then i geuss it aint that.

    Any ideas ? Thanks ahead.

Just control-alt-esc to task manager, click processes and find which program is using up all your cpu.

DPC's don't show up in task manager so if there is a hardware problem causing a high level of DPCs it won't show up. That is why it's better to use process explorer.

Also I think you mean CTRL+ALT+DEL or CTRL+SHIFT+ESC.

It might have to do with the cooler of the CPU?

Process Explorer showed up these results :
System Idle process- ranging between 40 to 50.
    igfxsrvc.exe - 30-40 (Intel corp.)
    igfxpers.exe- 9-15 (Intel corp.)
    svchost.exe - 3-9

So, perhaps the new driver for my x3100 is the one responsible for this problem ?

Cooling is fine, the fans work ok, and it doesnt heat up much.

Looks that way to me. Remove your drivers completely and update to the newest drivers. If those are the newest drivers, remove them and go back one release. See if that fixes the problem.

    not by much...
    igfxsrvc.exe still bounces between 30 to 40 %...
(btw, each time that i open a program, especially i-explorer, the cpu usage spikes up to at least 70%... but stabilize on 55-65%...it that normal ?)

Are you running on battery? not sure if your x3100 is being undervolted, or if it can be even lower than what it is now. just a suggestion. Trying plugging into a power source.

well, at last, problem solved... after googling a bit igfxsrc.exe, i found that this service is quite problematic, so disabling it from the startup menu, kinda solved everything, and dropped my cpu usage down to 5-10%
    thx anyway :)
