I have toyed around with upgrading to Vista from XP pro for a while using an unused Express Upgrade CD that I had available. So I took the plunge, before I did a back up my present system onto an external hard drive.

    Questions:
    1. Upon running the instal I was "told" by the CD that I couldn't upgrade from XP Pro to Vista Home Premium. Everything would need to install on the hard drive. So I lost everything.

Now I would like to revert back to XP Pro from my backup and I can't figure it out. Any suggestions?

    2. I like Vista, is there a way I could keep Vista and access my stuff (pics, music, etc) and install it again?

    3. Can I install the IBM ThinkVantage utilities and used them to recover my stuff?

    Thanks,

    1) How did you backup, what program did you use?
    2) If I'm reading correctly, you would need to backup all of your files on the external drive, install vista, and then transfer the files back.
    3) You can install thinkvantage utilities from lenovo's web site.
