What is the best FREE virtual CD software available that wont blow up my T61 on W7? Head Dameon and read some reviews but what is consensus best and what will work with a TP running W7 64 bit? Recommend only if you use it without issues. Im not interested in BSODs nor reinstalling Windows.

PS On an ex-post basis you say its not relevant but you have tested it but I have not. Unfair comment. -
I love Daemon Tools have current version running on both W500 and T400s with Windows 7 Ultimate no issues at all.

"Probably the best virtual drive software, Virtual CloneDrive allows you to enjoy the freedom of a virtual drive and is completely free."

There's no need to be snooty on anyone's part. Things needn't 100% ThinkPad centric to be posted in this board.

magicdisc works perfectly fine under win 7 and server 2008 R2. i use it to mount ISO files on my X200T and X61s when traveling.

I use daemon tools, works fine on my T400 and X60.

I used to use Daemon tools, but it had issues with Win7 64-Bit during the Beta/RC days. I switched to Virtual Clone Drive and have used that continually since without any issues.
-
virtual clonedrive is good but cannot mount the proprietary containers since it is free.

thanks everyone for all the suggestions. what about uninstallation? i have read many accounts of uninstallation basically hosing the OS install resulting in many cases a complete reinstallation of the OS. Yikes!

+1 for Daemon Tools.
All the problems from the Windows 7 Beta/RC days have been fixed.
