I have Windows Xp pro should I upgrade to vista Business 32 bit.

I'll just cut to the case, i'm not a fan of Vista at all. It's not the OS we were promised. Instead we got a slow, bloated operating system that looks cute. I can run Windowblinds 5 with the Arrow skin and I have the look of Vista with just 3 meg of memory resources.
Vista offers very little over what XP already gives us. I recently ordered my T60 with XP Pro. I don't want Vista anywhere near my Thinkpad. If you feel compelled to run Vista I suggest revisiting the OS after SP1.
As it stands right now Vista is garbage, IMO. -
Well, sooner or later you are going to migrate to Vista. Might as well order it now with your new computer, this way you wont end up having to pay for it later on (Vista business and X Pro cost the same when you order them with a new computer).

If you have to ask, then no. Unless you like to stay on the bleeding edge of technology, then by all means switch to Vista. Otherwise, stick to XP.

XP Pro. Vista is way too buggy (it should still be in beta!) at this point in time.

i would suggest that you stay with XP for the time being as,as of now its known to have driver problems and compatibility troubles with programs
it would be wise to to wait till the service pack 1 is out by then the vista support for most programs will be good and the drivers will be mature and stable -
Personally, I have chosen to move over to it for the laptop (but not the desktop) as the performance hit isn't that big, and there are things that work better.
For instance:
There is a network printer in my office (wireless) that under XP you had to download the drivers install them first, then add the printer by hand with the IP address. In vista, I was in the room, it found it, found the driver online, downloaded it and installed it in 2 clicks.
UAC is very annoying but its probably a good thing in the end for most people. I like search. I don't use the start menu anymore, I hit the windows key type the first few letters of the thing I want to run and hit enter which is faster for a good typist than pointing and clicking.
I would say power management is better in vista than XP also... (native that is).
XP is a bit faster but I haven't had any real trouble. If I just wanted to complain about vista it would be that such 'minor' improvements took so long.
PS: (edit): I wouldn't pay for these improvements but for free yeah I will take it. (that is even if you just want the cute, windowblinds costs money and only mimics part of it. There are other desktop searches etc, the functionality is otherwise out there but for free it is nicly integrated in vista) -
When I installed Java2 JRE, the aero 3d feature disappeared. Very strange.
I've also experienced beep sounds from my T60 as soon as I restart Vista. (I think I got this after installing the IBM hotkeys drivers)
I reinstalled XP Pro and am more comfortable with it. The keyword is, "comfortable". I can't really argue that XP is a better OS. To me, Vista is a little more than just cute. I like the new start menu (it saves some screen real estate) and searching seems a bit more effecient.
I have my free Vista upgrade disc so if I do want to go back, I can do that.
What do you guys mean when you say Vista is buggy? I haven't seen anything extremely wrong in Vista.
A friend of mine said that Vista's power management is mediocre compared to XP and drwho wrote that it's better than XP. I dont know who to believe -
As for the JRE, you will find if you run older software it will revert to non-aero while it is running. This does not happen to me with Java (I have 1.6 I think (latest)), it does happen whenever I run paint shop pro 10, but that is the only program. -
Does anyone know when SP1 is expected for Vista?
