What will be the difference between buying now and getting a coupon for vista and waiting until it is pre-installed before I buy? I understand you will have to install Vista yourself via either an upgrade or clean install. So, what I am wondering is how similar will the end product be?

Will I lose any features or can I just download the thinkpad software? I guess you would be in the same position as if you lost your hard drive and had to buy a new one and reload everything. What about the recovery partition? Really enjoy reading this every week.

    Thanks,
    Chris

The "end product" will be the same whether you upgrade or purchase it installed on your system. The advantage of getting an upgrade disk could be that you can upgrade when you want to. As in, wait for other people to find the bugs and MS to release the first Service Pack and then you can upgrade and install the service pack. If you buy a machine with Windows XP now you can also think of it has getting two OS's for the price of one and having some flexibility there.
