has anybody encountered issues with Vista and its Sleep Option. i've heard some talk about how some people's screens don't turn on upon resuming, which I have experienced once or twice, but i'm talking about something different.
about 50% of the time, when i go into sleep mode, the laptop doesn't fully go into sleep mode. the moon icon will light up, but the system will remain on and the battery icon will remain on (even if not plugged in). the screen turns off, but you can definitely hear the fans, and the power drains (quite quickly, too).
then, when i try to resume, nothing happens, and I am forced to force shutdown the laptop by holding down the power button.
its very inconvenient for several reasons: 1) forcing shutdown is not good for the computer 2) i have lost many unsaved files or windows that were open, and 3) it drains my battery quite quickly in my backpack when i think it is on sleep mode.
i was just wondering if any of you had heard of or experienced similar problems before. i'm not sure if it's a vista issue, or a thinkpad+vista issue. i've downloaded all the recent updates (both lenovo's and vista's), so i'm thinking a vista reinstall might be in order.

Is this an issue with your T60 or T61?

i have the same problem.but i use sony vaio.
i asked customer service they couldnt find any solution their last offer was system recovery that i dont want to do. -
This sounds similar (but not exactly the same) as a sleep problem I had and eventually solved:

So it's probably a driver issue. Before you go and do the full reinstall, you might want to remove the BT and Graphics drivers and reinstall them first just to see what happens. Others have also pointed to those two being the cause of sleep problems. -
I also had a similar sleep & hibernation issue.. My computer would go into sleep or hibernation and then resume in like 3 seconds. I found that if I unplug the network adapter, it will go into both modes without any problems, so you can try that..
Good Luck -
I have the same issue with several regular pc's. I'm not sure of the cause, but it seems to be a driver issue.

hmm..haven't had that issue..but have had only the screen turn off when going to sleep while everythign still stays on...i have to do a hard reset afterwards
my comp also occasionally restarts on its own after resuming from sleep and i get a message prompting me to start up normally or in safe mode
these are all like 1 in 40 sleep/resume cycles or so
