    Hi,

As a new lenovo r61 owner, i have followed the vista clean install guide. After that my pc was rock solid and working like a charm. Unfortunately, i have decided to install vista sp1 on my laptop.

Here are a list of bugs that you might have doing so:
    - at startup, synaptics touchpad drivers (taken from lenovo website) is giving an error message.
    - trying to change the mouse properties --> BSOD
    - computer is checking the disk at each startup
    - FIrefox 3 beta 5 is acting buggy, opening a torrent file --> BSOD
    - shutdown sequence is erratic
    - the hard drive is looking for things all the time.

hopefully i did have done a backup pre sp1 so i have reverted the computer to the pre sp1 state. Verdict: works again like a charm

Conclusion: no sp1 on my lenovo ever....

if anyone has shared a similar experience andfind out why, i would appreciate some tips.

if you have the recovery disks then whats to lose? My guess is that your curiosity will get the best of you and youll try again.....SP1 did have some installation issues with some of my users. Defrag programs were a huge problem with the checkdisk every time. Since the OS reboots 900 times during the phases of the install, they would always get stuck.

My R61 got stuck for a little the first time. This time I slipstreamed SP1 into the install and had zero complications doing a clean install. I would uninstall all the problem drivers before SP1 first. Firefox 3 issues? Thats why its Beta, even though it worked before. I gave up and just went back to memory eater FF2.

Maybe turn off hibernation and set your shadowcopy limit to like 3GB first, just to limit startup disk usage. Good luck.
