There is nothing wrong with my hardware. 3GB of RAM and ITT but Vista runs like its in slow motion v. XPSP2 on lower spec machines. I want to turn off all candy. Not running Aero now. Is there something I can do to turn off the "fade effect" when opening and closing windows?

Running Vista HP here with a T61 2.2GHz and 3 GB RAM. Very zippy... And the ReadyBoost (or whatever the heck they call it) really makes app start-up pretty quick, too... No complaints... well, other than the infamous 'Hybrid disk' crashes I used to have. But in terms of speed, it kicks butt.
