i know you cannot configure a new laptop with this through there website, but do they offer it if you call them? Or do they not even deal with these versions?

Also does the x64 Business Vista come with XP downgrade discs?

Hmm thats strange, I heard that Vista Business comes with XP downgrade discs. Is it only with the 32 bit version of Vista Business that comes with them?

I ordered a T61P w/ Vista Business 64 and it did not come with any discs.

I don't know if V B 32 does or not. I have heard that customers who ordered their system without a DVD writer will get a set of restore discs, but I don't know if they contain an XP downgrade or not.

Well that just sucks! I thought that the XP downgrade discs came with it for sure. I know that Microsoft made a deal with certain manufacturers that they could sell the XP downgrade discs if the customer buys Business or Ultimate Vista. How do I get these discs and it looks like I have to pay extra???

Well, I too thought that I would get the downgrade discs. Oh well.

You can always call and speak to a sales representative. They have more latitude than just ordering online and can be a really good resource. I would do an online quote first and have the number ready for a reference. If they do promise to send you the discs, have them put the promise in an email.

An example of how a salesman can help you is when I had a stuck pixels on my monitor (one was dead center). First I called tech support. They were worse than useless, they were actually pretty insulting. Maybe the person I called was having a bad day.

So I called my salesman who put me on hold while he smoothed things over with the Returns department (Lenovo charges a 15% restocking fee on returns without exception, per their website). I was able to send the computer in, free of charge, for a refund. I'm still considering Lenovo, but their tech support, and their handling of the BSOD issue, has given me pause.
